Moringa Oil

Africa's Food Bowl of the Future

Prior to the outbreak of Covid-19, JTRC developed a Moringa Oil project to help support smallholder out-growers in the area. There are currently 450 smallholder village farmers registered with the Wami River Ranch Moringa Oil project.

JTRC has built and equipped a small factory where we shell, cold press, and filter Moringa seed to oil. Moringa is a perfect smallholder crop as moringa trees require absolutely no fertilisers or pest control, and are not affected much by either drought or excessive rain. Families own between 1 and 20 trees (average 6 trees) and from this they can harvest enough moringa seed to pay at minimum for a child’s education for a year in Tanzania.
