JTRC has developed a profitable business buying in weaner stock from local markets and growing them out with better husbandry and grazing management than is the norm in Tanzania. Depending on the size and age of the bought cattle, we turn these animals over in between 8 and 14 months and realise up to 3 times the original purchase price. This is achieved on grass only.

Over the past years we have forged relationships with two major abattoirs who export meat to the Middle East. We are preferred suppliers to these abattoirs because we provide them with animals superior to those available on open markets, and they pay excellent prices per kilogram of live weight as a result. This operation is profitable and only needs to be scaled up to 800 head on farm to make a major difference to the overall cash flow of the farm.
